‘OVERCOME REF’: Close-up of the situation that Kai Havertz pushed rival coach and clash with Porto players while trying to get the ball back for Arsenal

Kai Havertz seems to be lucky to escape a card penalty after having an out-of-control action with Porto coach Sergio Conceicao.

Arsenal went into extra time in their Champions League clash with Portuguese side Porto. Leandro Trossard’s first-half goal ensured the final score was 1-1. Towards the end of the match, midfielder Kai Havertz tried to get the ball from the sidelines – before pushing Porto coach Conceicao.

Of course, coach Conceicao was not satisfied and despite what happened, referee Clement Turpin still did not draw a card or give any warning to Havertz.

talkSPORT expert Darren Bent said: “Havertz had a bit of a temper, but luckily for him he didn’t get carded.”

However, Havertz eventually received a yellow card for pushing Pepe when the Porto player tried to make a tackle.

Both Arsenal and Porto had opportunities to end the match, but no more goals were scored in the official 90 minutes and 2 extra periods, causing the match to enter a penalty shootout.

On penalties, the Gunners were the braver team when David Raya saved two penalty kicks to win 4-2.

Arsenal have now reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2010, with their first penalty shootout since the 2016 final.

The Gunners will join Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the next round of the tournament. Arsenal’s opponents in the quarterfinals will be revealed at the Champions League draw taking place on March 15
