Joselu and Carvajal had somewhat distinct career paths after Joselu left Real Madrid more than ten years ago.

Carvajal has won three La Liga crowns and five Champions Leagues with Los Blancos, while Joselu has only won one trophy, the Nations League championship that Spain won on penalties against Croatia on Sunday.

Three days prior, Joselu showed a hint of his potential when he scored a late goal to help Spain defeat Italy in the semi-final.

Additionally, he is coming off a standout campaign at Espanyol, when he scored 16 goals in a club that placed second.
