Reports in Spain say that THIBAUT COURTOIS got a nasty new injury while working with Real Madrid.
Due to a torn cruciate ligament in August, the former Chelsea goalie has not played yet this season.
Marca says that Courtois has now hurt himself again, and this time it will probably keep him out for the rest of the season.
They say the Belgian goalkeeper was in tears when he left practice because he tore the meniscus in his right knee.
The story also says that he is now going to have surgery on his hurt knee.
Courtois had just lately started training again after his last setback.
After getting hurt on the first day of the season, the 31-year-old wasn’t supposed to play this season.
But he was thought to be ahead of plan in his recovery so that he could be back in time for Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League runs.
Because Courtois was hurt, Real Madrid quickly borrowed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
But since then, Andriy Lunin has taken the Spaniard’s spot on the team and has been starting in goal since November.
Courtois’s latest injury comes after he got into another public fight with Domenico Tedesco, the boss of Belgium.
He called the head of the national team a liar on social media, and their fight is still going on.
There is bad blood between them because Tedesco didn’t make Courtois captain for Belgium’s games against Austria and Estonia in June of last year.
Courtois’s outburst has made people question his future as an international player. He has won 102 games for the Red Devils in his career.
He doesn’t look like he’ll be ready for Euro 2024 in the summer either.
