Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool is apparently being watched by Real Madrid, as the defender has not yet agreed to a new agreement.
Consequently, what happened?
Fabrizio Romano reports that Los Blancos are monitoring the England international, whose deal expires in 2025. He said the Reds have “no desire” to sell the 25-year-old, but there have been “no talks” about a contract extension up to this point.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
With manager Jurgen Klopp leaving the club at the end of the season, Liverpool are approaching a new and slightly uncertain era. Fellow key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also out of contract at Anfield next year, meaning there could well be an Anfield exodus.
DID YOU KNOW?
Alexander-Arnold, who can play in midfield, right wing-back, or right back, has made 302 appearances for Liverpool since making his debut in the 2016–17 campaign, scoring 18 goals. He will be competing, like many others, to be included in England’s Euro 2024 squad this summer; his goal is to win the Premier League first.
WHAT NEXT?
The defender, who has missed time due to a knee injury since February 10, is expected to contribute to Liverpool’s title defense as they aim to win both the Premier League and the Europa League this year. The League Cup has already been won by them.
