Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has revealed that he has put on 15 kg of weight, which he attributes to a lot of hard effort in the gym. The 6′ 3″ Premier League player admitted that going from 70 kg to 85 kg of muscle was challenging.
“I think people would have their eyes opened if they knew how hard players work in the gym and the level of intensity that’s required to push yourself to hit those goals,” adds McTominay.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, the 27-year-old football player stated, “My body has changed over the past seven years.” When I was 17 or 18, I was 6ft 3in and 70kg; I weigh 85kg now. Gaining muscle required a lot of work on my part.
McTominay has previously updated his Instagram page with information on his training. He even approached Paul Pogba, a former teammate and colleague midfielder, for his muscle-building advice. Pogba allegedly told McTominay that he would put on muscle when he turned 23. “It didn’t happen, and I remember thinking, ‘Where is it then?'” asserts McTominay.
Since then, McTominay has undoubtedly boosted his lifting efforts, and his physique has seen significant transformation.
As we all know, shifting tin is just one piece of the jigsaw when it comes to achieving gains; we also need sufficient fuel and recovery to enjoy the fruits of our labor. McTominay doesn’t take shortcuts.
Fortunately, I’ve always like going to the gym. That’s where I compete, and I enjoy seeing little progress. In terms of eating and sleeping patterns, I also regard myself as disciplined.
The Manchester United player will surely see results on the pitch in the New Year as a result of his diligent work off the field.
