The star of Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, has given 50 containers to aid 255 people affected by the tragic earthquake in Morocco to find refuge.
In September, Morocco saw the deadliest earthquake in more than a century, leaving at least 3,000 people dead.
With an earthquake that measured 7.2 on the Richter scale, the provinces of Taroudant and Al Haouz were among the hardest hit by the tragedy.
Saka has collaborated with the nonprofit organization BigShoe to give 84 families in a tiny town in the Taroudant region much-needed housing.
Forty-two people perished in the natural disaster in the village alone.
Saka has provided support to the affected parties by donating fifty containers. The containers include a kitchenette, electrical outlets, a sleeping area, and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basins.
In addition, safety grilles have been installed on the windows of the containers to act as fall protection in the event of additional earthquakes.
The winger for Arsenal and England said he hopes the containers will allow the 89 youngsters and 84 families to resume some normalcy in their daily lives.
Saka remarked, “I was shocked to learn about the horrible earthquake in Morocco.”
But in that second instance, I realized how much I wanted to help, and we looked into what we could do to support the families who had been uprooted.
We were able to provide a roof over their heads, some solace, and hope to folks who had lost everything due to circumstances beyond their control fairly fast after we figured out how to assist.
“You realize how fortunate you are to live in a world where others are fighting for their lives, losing their homes, or losing loved ones.”
Saka went on to say that the accounts of widows after the accident, an elderly guy with a disability, and a youngster with Down syndrome had touched him.
The 22-year-old and BigShoe previously collaborated to support 120 procedures that changed the lives of youngsters in Nigeria last year.
Additionally, at the beginning of 2023, he provided funding for makeshift shelters in Turkish cities struck by earthquakes.
Several well-known figures have supported BigShoe’s efforts to aid underprivileged children since the organization was established in 2006.
The foundation has aided over 1,800 youngsters globally, and Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger and former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil have also collaborated with it.
