Leandro Trossard is doing well for Arsenal FC right now. Racing Genk was where the Red Devils had the most success in Belgium. This morning, he goes back to his football roots and, along with Luxembourg’s mayor, opens the second Belgian Red Court.

Thanks to these social football fields, KBVB wants to bring together young and old through football, making the sport easier to get into and boosting community spirit in Genk.

Since 2022, KBVB has been turning old football fields into new, modern football churches. Proximus, Adas, and people who play the National Lottery all help with that. After Lens, Hasselt, Sint-Niklaas, Lokeren, and Waregem, Genk is now the leading city, and Hobbyland has been given the Red Court. The story doesn’t end there either. In the coming years, there will be forty Red Courts.
The Red Devils’ Leandro Trossard, who used to be captain of the Racing Genk team, will become a representative in Genk. Racing Genk won the title in 2019 with Trossard’s help after he played 120 games for the team. To officially open the Genk Red Court, Trossard held a party today with Mayor W.M. Dres and the youth of the city.
“I owe Genk a lot as a football player.” I had a lot of fun with both the youth team and the first team. A few years have passed since I played in Genk, but the people there haven’t forgotten about me. They always opened their arms to me. I’m glad I can repay the community that has helped me a great deal. A future Red Devil might soon hit his first ball on that Red Stadium, but I really hope that it will become a place where people from Genk can get together. – Leandro Trossard spoke out.
The Red Square opening ceremony in Genk is also the beginning of many events on the decorated football field. For example, soccer games are set up, but there are also other soccer-related events planned to bring people together in the community, such as partnerships with local non-profits on Google.
