Guglielmo Vicario, the Spurs goalie, was caught by Ben White taking off his gloves from the corner kick that put Arsenal ahead in the North London derby.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put the ball into his own net when Bukayo Saka sent in a corner kick.
There are, however, people who don’t think the goal was real after seeing replays.
White, an Arsenal defender, looked like he was fighting with Vicario on the goal line. Replays now show that Vicario used a sneaky move.
On a second look, White can be seen taking Vicario’s glove off as they fight on the goal line, just seconds before Arsenal scores.
Even though White did some crazy things, VAR did not review the goal, and Arsenal quickly took the lead against their foes.
For Arsenal’s third goal, White did it again. He stood in front of the goalie so Spurs didn’t see it and Havertz headed it in with the Gunners already ahead.
People who liked the goal talked about it on social media, and some of them pointed out what White had done.
One Arsenal fan joked, “Ben White taking off the goalkeeper’s gloves is the greatest sporting achievement of all time.”
“Okay, we need the video of Ben White flicking Vicario’s thumb,” said someone else.
When someone else on X watched the goal back, they joked, “That guy is a menace!”
It was a terrible start for Spurs and Hojbjerg, who was criticized a lot before the game.
Old Arsenal star Paul Merson said that the Dane would have a tough game: “The lad who is playing now [Odegaard] would rather face.”
“Bissouma is a faster player.” Hojbjerg, get away from him right now. Sarr and Bissouma move faster.
“This kid will want to play, but he thinks he’s good enough to play.” He’ll want to play the ball when they have it, but his first thought should be, “I’m on this team to stop him from playing, so I’m just going to hook on him.”‘
This season, Spurs are seven points behind Aston Villa in the Premier League race for the top four spots. They have a lot of work to do.
Arsenal, on the other hand, is competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title and hopes to win it at the end of the season.
