After a protracted wait, Jadon Sancho is officially a Manchester United player.
When Jadon dons the Reds’ new home shirt during a game for the first time (assuming, naturally, that he wears the short-sleeved version), fans will realize he is a major fan of body art.
Of course, a large number of football players today have body art. Sancho’s United and England teammate Marcus Rashford has multiple tattoos, one of which is a large lion covering his heart.
Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles are renowned for their tattoos, many of which have specific meaning, much like Jadon.
In our initial interview, when we asked the Reds’ newest acquisition which design meant the most to him, he pointed to his left forearm, which bears a poignant family member’s memory.
Since it was my first, this one holds the greatest significance for me. When my younger brother was younger, he passed away. Jadon declared, “This is without a doubt my most meaningful poetry.” I read one that I had written during the funeral when I was in elementary school.
“You and I will always be together,” the poem declares. You were a unique newborn boy who made us happy and joyful. I was very excited to watch you mature, succeed on the football field, and win the trophy. But you’ve departed. How am I able to help? You are adored, dear brother.
“The remainder of [the poem] is surrounded by the initials of my sister and brother, birds, heaven, an angel, and a butterfly,” he said.
Cartoon characters adorn Sancho’s right arm in a more colorful selection, and he promises that the collection will only grow. A personal homage to his family is his left arm.
“I used to like comics, so I kind of freestyled here,” Jadon said.
Of course, this still features Sonic, Spider-Man, and The Simpsons.Since I’m not done yet, there will be more.
