David Raya officially won the Premier League’s ‘Golden Glove’ title after Jordan Pickford failed to keep a clean sheet for Everton

Jordan Pickford’s failure to preserve a clean sheet for Everton on Friday has resulted in David Raya being named the Premier League’s Golden Glove winner. In 29 league games this season, Raya has kept 14 clean sheets for Arsenal; with two games left, Pickford has 12 clean sheets, making Raya’s record already unbeatable. Raya is presently on loan from Brentford to Arsenal.

David Raya, the goalkeeper for Arsenal, earned the Golden Glove trophy given by the Premier League when his record of 14 clean sheets became unbeatable.

In 29 league games for Arsenal this season, Raya has 14 clean sheets.

Jordan Pickford, his major challenger, failed to maintain a clean sheet for Everton against Luton Town this evening, as his team ended up drawing 1-1.

Raya still has three games left for Arsenal, while Pickford can only match him with two games remaining for Everton and 12 clean sheets thus far.

With 16 clean sheets while leading Arsenal to second place in the Premier League, Raya becomes the first goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove at Arsenal since Petr Cech did it in the 2015–16 campaign.

Given his goalie’s record of clean sheets this season, Mikel Arteta would feel vindicated. After Raya, who signed a season-long loan from Brentford in August, took Aaron Ramsdale’s place, the manager of Arsenal faced criticism.

The season before, Ramsdale had appeared in all 38 of Arsenal’s Premier League games and had kept 14 clean sheets.

However, Raya emerged as Arteta’s undisputed first choice in goal starting in September and held that position even after he committed two errors in Arsenal’s 4-3 victory over Luton Town in December.

After saving two penalties in Arsenal’s shootout triumph over Porto in the UEFA Champions League, he rose to hero status and assisted his team in reaching the quarterfinals.
