An in-form Crystal Palace team defeated Manchester United 4-0, handing them their 13th Premier League loss of the current campaign.
Erik ten Hag’s players played below expectations in yet another game, and they paid a heavy price for their errors.
Tyrick Mitchell and Jean-Philippe Mateta both scored goals for Palace, but Michael Olise’s incredible brace took the lead.
United possessed the most of the ball (58%) but did little with it. Out of their seven attempts at goal, they were only able to muster two shots on goal. By contrast, the Eagles managed just 18 shots in total, with Andre Onana having to make saves on 10 of them.
The Red Devils completed 591 passes with an 84% completion percentage. In contrast, Palace completed 430 passes with an 81% pass accuracy rate.
Most of United’s stars had subpar games at Selhurst Park, with Antony personifying the team’s startling performance during the game.
Given how terrible he’s been in the last few games, it was surprising that he was in the starting lineup. The majority of supporters believe that Amad Diallo, who has shown promise when given chances from the bench, should be ranked higher than the incompetent Antony.
To give you an idea of how bad Antony was against Palace, he was replaced in the 60th minute by defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Thirteen of the pathetic nineteen passes that Antony tried were completed. The Brazilian recorded a total of 27 ball touches.
He did not make a single cross or crucial pass.
The 24-year-old’s lone attempt was off-target and caused no problems for Dean Henderson in goal.
Antony attempted two dribbles but was unable to finish each of them. He was restrained. He made two attempts at tackles, but none of them were effective.
The winger was forced to participate in one aerial challenge and only prevailed in three of his seven ground duels. Additionally, he misplaced the ball eight times.
United needs to start making plans for life without Antony before the summer arrives. He only looks to be taking up space for a colleague who most likely deserves it more and gives nothing at all.
