The England player has had to watch from the stands this season because David Raya has taken over as the Gunners’ first choice.

After dealing with the media storm that came with his arrival, the Spanish goalkeeper has done a great job and won the Premier League Golden Glove award. He is likely to make his loan move official this summer.

Ramsdale has only played six times this season across all divisions. He has been linked with a move away in recent months, and on Friday, it was said that he was almost done signing a deal to join Eddie Howe’s team next season.

But the 26-year-old seems to be denying those reports. He went on social media to say that he doesn’t know about a deal being made.

“News to me,” he wrote on X, which used to be Twitter. He added a smiling emoji to the end of his post.

At one point, James Green of Sky Sports said that he had heard from Ramsdale’s representatives that the move to St. James’ Park was official.

“I got that straight from someone close to me who is close with his agent, and he says it’s done.” He told the Highbury Squad. “The deal is going through.”

The goalkeeper used to play for Sheffield United and joined Arsenal in 2021. He still has two years left on his contract with the club.

Nick Pope will return from a dislocated shoulder at the end of April, putting Martin Dubravka the team’s number one right now. Pope turned 32 last month, and Dubravka is 35 years old. Newcastle wants to bring in a younger player for the next part of their recruitment.

Howe, the manager of the Magpies, really likes Ramsdale because he bought him from Sheffield United and brought him to Bournemouth. He also gave the goalkeeper a second chance after he slept in and missed the bus to Chelsea for a Carabao Cup game.

Ramsdale was given a fine and sent on loan to AFC Wimbledon, but he praised Howe for how he handled the situation and called it a “penny-dropping moment” in his career.

Some Arsenal fans don’t like how Arteta treated Ramsdale, and Jens Lehmann, who played on Arsene Wenger’s famous “Invincibles” team, “never understood” why the Englishman fell so quickly down the ranks.

“I never ever understood the Ramsdale decision,” the goalie who used to play for Arsenal and Germany told Mail Sport in October.

“It doesn’t make sense to bring in a Spanish player who has never played for a big club at that level when there is a good, brave English goalkeeper doing well at a big English club.”

The most important player on the team is the goalkeeper. It’s hard for people that age, so I don’t know what I would do if I were Ramsdale. Things are different when you get older.
