After Arsenal was eliminated from the Premier League, Kai Havertz broke down in tears.

The German was gutted to be pipped by Manchester City

The German was devastated that Manchester City had defeated him.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu’s skillful equalizer and Idrissa Gueye’s deflected free kick, the Gunners came back from behind to win 2-1 at the Emirates.

But Pep Guardiola’s team won their fourth championship in a row at home against West Ham thanks to a 3-1 victory.

And as their second-place finish was confirmed, it was evident how devastated Arsenal was.

Havertz stumbled badly on the Emirates pitch, falling on his haunches and unable to control the outburst.

After regaining his composure, the forward spoke with TNT Sports and expressed his suffering.

Havertz remarked, “What am I to say? I’m sad for all of us Arsenal supporters. Despite our best efforts, it was insufficient.

“I feel like we deserved more right now, but maybe in two or three months we can look back and say it was a good fight.”

“We go again next year, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

They made things difficult for us, but we once again displayed outstanding character.

“They have been playing with time since the first minute; they take time for every throw and ball.

“In my view, football can be unfair at times, but we have to acknowledge that it’s a difficult sport.

“Hopefully, we can return the following year and fulfill the needs and goals of the Arsenal supporters.”

It’s difficult and extremely frustrating. We’ll be a stronger team and play with everything we have next year.

Plenty of fans piled in with messages of sympathy and support for the former Chelsea man.

One typed: “Feel bad for Kai he’s been impressive.”

Another wrote: “Don’t worry, Kai, next year it will be tears of joy.”

A third added: “My guy, heads up”

Finally, a user said, “Don’t worry, he will lift it next season.”

On the last day of the season, Phil Foden’s goal for City after just 79 seconds gave Arsenal a terrible start.

Declan Rice made it 2-0 before he inadvertently headed Gueye’s set-piece past the marooned David Raya.

Havertz and Tomiyasu’s goals ensured that Arsenal at least went out on front, but there was further reason for celebration at the Emirates when news leaked out that West Ham had equalized.

But a 3-1 victory at home at the Etihad Stadium, capped by a goal from Rodri, meant that City ended two points clear of Arsenal.
