According to reports, Arsenal has designated Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as a summer transfer target. Arsenal intends to make early signings in the forthcoming window.
After losing to Manchester City in the title game the previous two seasons, the Gunners are motivated to improve even more the following year. This term’s championship winners won it home by a mere two points on the last day.
After keeping their powder dry in January, the club management is anticipated to support Mikel Arteta in the transfer market once more, and adding a striker is top of the priority list.
According to a recent article from The Independent, Arsenal is keeping an eye on a number of names and is eager to close their deal as soon as possible. Among them are Alexander Isak and Brobbey. For Newcastle, Isak has been playing exceptionally well, and for Ajax, Brobbey has scored 22 goals in 42 appearances.
Isak, who the Gunners pursued before he joined Newcastle, is not expected to sign with the team this summer since the Magpies do not want to sell, as previously reported by Mirror Football.
According to reports, Brobbey, 22, is expected to be the Gunners’ main target going forward given his impressive performance for Ajax. The Dutchman has intriguingly previously attracted Premier League interest.
After working with Brobbey at Ajax, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, made two attempts to get him to Old Trafford, but the striker turned down his advances.
Back in January, he gave an explanation, saying, “Erik ten Hag called me and said that at United, my agent would get millions of euros and I could earn a multiple of my Ajax salary.”
However, we had already made up our minds to attend Ajax. I insisted on going back to Ajax even though Manchester United wanted me. My agent Jose Fortes Rodriguez even surrendered a sizable portion of the sell-on clause to make that happen.
When Brobbey was once again connected to United in January, he implied he no longer had Ten Hag’s phone number. Brobbey has previously expressed interest in joining Arsenal.
When asked to pick a foreign team he would like to play for in a Q&A section of the Dutch version of Men’s Health magazine, Brobbey responded, “Real Madrid is a great club, but so are Arsenal and Manchester United.”
