At Arsenal FC, Leandro Trossard is currently having a good season. Racing Genk was where the Red Devils’ biggest triumph in Belgium occurred. Today, he goes back to his football roots and opens the second Belgian Red Court in the Limburg region alongside mayor Wim Dries.
With the use of these communal football fields, the KBVB hopes to bring together young and elderly via football, increasing accessibility to the game and fostering social cohesion in Genk.
KBVB has been converting old football pitches into modern tiny football temples since 2022. Proximus, Adidas, and National Lottery players help it in doing this. Following Lier, Hasselt, Sint-Niklaas, Lokeren, and Waregem, the city of Genk currently holds the distinction, with Hobbyland receiving the Red Court. And the story doesn’t end there. There will be forty Red Courts in the upcoming years.

Leandro Trossard, the former captain of Racing Genk, and the Red Devils will serve as ambassadors in Genk. Trossard participated in 120 games for Racing Genk, helping the team to the 2019 championship. The Genk Red Court was officially opened today when Trossard kicked a ball with Mayor Wim Dries and the young people of Genk.
In terms of football, I owe Genk a great deal. I had wonderful times with the first team as well as the youth squad. Even though I’ve been playing abroad for a while, the people of Genk still seem to remember me. They were always quite welcoming to me. Being able to return some favours to the city that has shown me so much gratitude makes me pleased. Maybe one day a future Red Devil may kick a ball on this Red Stadium, but my greatest wish is that it would serve as a hub for the locals of Genk. According to Leandro Trossard

The Red Stadium’s opening ceremony in Genk serves as the catalyst for a number of events on the lavishly decked football pitch.
