Portugal’s penultimate friendly encounter before starting their Euro 2024 campaign in Germany was effectively ended by goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 50th and 60th minutes of the second half.

Fernandes participated in the entire ninety-minute game.

The dynamic midfield player completed 69 of his 74 passes attempted and amassed 90 touches of the ball while he was on the pitch, for an individual pass completion percentage of 93%.

Fernandes completed six crucial passes.

Using three long balls and five crosses, he attempted to locate a Selecao teammate. Using two of the three long balls he pinged and one of his crosses, he found his desired target.

The 29-year-old had two shots and one significant opportunity. One found its mark, and the other did not necessitate a move from Caoimhin Kelleher in the Ireland net.

The United captain started three dribbles but only finished one. Only once, out of three ground duels, did he emerge victorious.

Diogo Dalot, Fernandes’ colleague at United, also played alongside him on the pitch. Dalot was replaced by Nelson Semedo after just 45 minutes. In Portugal’s previous game against Croatia, Roberto Martinez made the same personnel move, which would indicate that he hasn’t decided on a surefire starting right-back for Euro 2024.

Dalot made 41 touches to the ball and completed 33 of the 34 passes he attempted, for a 97% pass accuracy rate. It was a crucial pass that he made.

Half of the matches the United defender was victorious on the ground. He made one tackle as well.

All of the focus is now on Fernandes, Dalot, and their foreign team members as they prepare to play Czechia in their first Euro 2024 group match in a week.
