Fans and commentators were incensed at the condition of the Frankfurt pitch during England’s match against Denmark in the Euro 2024 on Thursday night.
In the opening moments of the match, Alan Shearer lamented the Frankfurt Arena’s surface, saying that patches of grass could be seen all across the pitch.
Shearer stated on BBC Sport that the pitch was “cutting up all over.”
England defender Kyle Walker lost his footing early in the game and required medical attention due to concerns that he might have injured his ankle.
Walker was allowed to proceed, though, after putting on new boots.

Another fan concurred as they wrote: ‘Pitch looks shocking!’.
