๏ปฟFans of Arsenal have now voiced their opinions over Bukayo Saka’s performance for England vs Slovenia.
Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal winger, started for England against Slovenia in Cologne at Euro 2024.
ever though the Three Lions’ advancement to the competition’s knockout stages was essentially guaranteed before the game ever started, there was still a lot of pressure on them going into this last group stage match.
Firstly, the Three Lions needed to win to guarantee first place in their group; else, their fate would depend on the outcomes of other matches. In addition, the team captained by Gareth Southgate had performed poorly in their opening two matches of the competition, to put it mildly.
The performance of the national side has drawn criticism from the media. Declan Rice, an Arsenal midfielder, has already urged the media to back Saka and the other members of his England team. However, the players must communicate on the pitch.
Saka has shown glimpses of brilliance throughout the competition, according to Arsenal supporters, but it is reasonable to argue that he has not yet truly demonstrated the kind of form that he has so frequently displayed at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.
For the 22-year-old, the match against Slovenia was another mainly miserable evening. Saka came and went from the game, and England produced very little throughout. Although the Hale End academy product did manage to put the ball in the net during the first half, it was quickly disallowed due to Phil Foden’s offside stance during the build-up.
There were twenty minutes left when Saka was taken off.
Following Bukayo Saka’s England performance against Slovenia at Euro 2024, Arsenal supporters respond.
Many Arsenal supporters spoke about Saka’s influence on the game on X both during and after the game.
“Bellingham and Kane have been horrible; Foden and Saka are really the only ones trying to make things tick,” a supporter stated.
“It’s weird, but I really think Foden and Saka have the best linkup of any England players out there,” said another. When one is on the left and one is on the right, there is a small problem. Central England appears considerably better when Foden arrives.
“Saka seems to be the victim of a complete lack of service or quality interplay once again,” one admirer complained. Bellingham need to be off and should be left there.
An further Arsenal fan voiced their worries, saying, “Saka is not playing like Saka we used to know at Arsenal.”
Why is Saka having trouble with England?
Paul Merson, the legendary player for Arsenal, has speculated that Saka is suffering since he doesn’t have Martin Odegaard to play alongside. On the pitch, the Arsenal pair undoubtedly has a great relationship. Saka gets along well with Ben White, an Arsenal right-back and another Englishman who withdrew from consideration for international duty.
On the pitch, Saka and Kyle Walker don’t appear to have a lot in common, and Jude Bellingham has had trouble developing passes with the Arsenal winger.
This unfamiliarity has added to Saka’s struggles this summer when playing England.
