Italian newspaper Tuttosport reported that Arsenal has joined the race to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
Arsenal have been linked with multiple centre-backs over the past few weeks and Riccardo Calafiori has now emerged as a potential target. It is reported that Arsenal are preparing to approach the Bologna star, who has qualified for next season’s Champions League.
The Serie A side have no plans to sell him, unless there is a ‘huge offer’, but Arsenal could have the upper hand against Juventus. Calafiori is keen to reunite with coach Thiago Motta in Turin, but the Bianconeri may not be able to compete financially with Arsenal.
Calafiori is playing impressively at EURO 2024.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport believes that Calafiori’s appearance at Arsenal could pave the way for Jakub Kiwior’s departure.
Calafiori is a left-footed centre-back but can play left or right centre-back equally well. Calafiori is also capable of playing as a left-back, which is quite similar to Kiwior.
However, the big plus for the Italian defender is that he had a passing accuracy rate of 93% last season, much higher than Kiwior (86%).
