Manchester City star Grealish ends his relationship with Nike – From ‘Worn-Out Shoes’ to a Massive Puma Deal to Surpass Harry Kane

Jack Grealish, the attacker for Manchester City, has officially severed his long-term partnership with Nike by signing a huge footwear contract with Puma. Grealish’s departure from the American brand of boots also evokes a number of other incidents involving the English international with the corporation, most notably his utterly frayed Nike Hypervenom Phantom.

GREALISH WORE TORN NIKE BOOTS AT ASTON VILLA

The incident with the English international’s frayed boots occurred some time ago while he was still a player for Aston Villa. When he was playing in his entirely torn cleats during Villa’s Championship play-offs final victory against Derby County on May 27, 2019, a lot of people noticed the scenario.

However, the player explains why he decided to change gears, thus it wasn’t really because of Grealish’s torn boots. The adaptable attacker says in the media interview that he remained wearing the same pair of Nike Hypervenom cleats from late February until the big day, thinking of them as his lucky boots, and that’s why they were destroyed.

Grealish’s association with Nike was essentially established throughout his early professional career, which included his tenure as an Aston Villa player. That didn’t stop him from eventually calling it a day and starting a new journey with Puma, though.

After Puma Swith, Grealish to Get the Biggest Boots Deal for a UK Player

Grealish’s move from Nike to the German sports giant essentially validated rumours that were already widely circulated. The reason it’s improbable, though, is probably because Puma made a far better offer and his 2019 tattered boots incident.

According to reports, Grealish deal with Puma, which is set until 2028, will earn him the highest boot deal for a UK athlete. The 27-year-old reportedly could be earning up to £10m per season, which will beat Harry Kane, whose contract with Nike are worth around £4m per season.

Grealish is set to represent the German sports manufacturer by wearing their Puma Future Ultimate football boots. Following his 100m transfer move from Villa to Man City, the creative player has become a very attractive magnet for brands as he has also signed endorsement deals with Gucci, Bose headphones, and Airwayz among others.

Since making his debut in the Puma Future Ultimate cleats during his team’s Premier League encounter against Nottingham Forest on February 18, the Man City player has been wearing them. Grealish is becoming an official Puma ambassador, joining the ranks of other well-known global football players like Neymar and Antoine Griezmann.
