Arsenal Football Club released their much-anticipated away kit for 2024–25 today. This is a big step forward in their partnership with adidas and British African heritage brand Labrum London. This beautiful new design honors Arsenal’s deep ties to their African fans and the extensive cultural background of both the team and its fans around the world.
The design of the Arsenal 2024–25 adidas away shirt is based on traditional African style. It uses the traditional African colors of black, red, and green. A unique white zigzag pattern, made by Labrum London’s founder Foday Dumbuya, goes well with these bright colors. This one-of-a-kind pattern shows how the club has ties to the African community in London and around the world, both in the past and the present.
The 23 African national team players who have played for Arsenal’s men’s first team since the 1950s show that the club’s link with Africa goes far beyond looks. This connection has been around for a long time and has had a big impact on the club’s character and style of play over the years. It has also strengthened the bond between Arsenal and its African fans.
The design of the package is further enhanced by the collaboration with Labrum London, which adds layers of authenticity. The jersey, which incorporates elements inspired by 1920s African tribal art, represents freedom, movement, and joy, values that are profoundly ingrained in the hearts of both the club and its fans. The zig-zag pattern, in particular, generates a dynamic visual effect that encapsulates the game’s energy and exhilaration.
Throughout the forthcoming 2024/25 season, Arsenal supporters can anticipate their team wearing this culturally significant away kit. The jersey will be worn during English Premier League matches, as well as in EFL Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League fixtures, ensuring that Arsenal’s celebration of its African heritage is represented in multiple prestigious competitions.
Foday Dumbuya stated, “I observed some exceptional Arsenal players with African heritage as a second-generation immigrant growing up in London.” These players were exceptional role models for me, as they not only played the game in a gorgeous manner but also exemplified the broader community with which I identify.
“I am incredibly proud to have collaborated on this design with Arsenal, a club that has such a strong connection to this community.”
