Viktor Gyokeres, a scorer for Sporting CP, has talked about his future after being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.
It is been reported in both the Mirror and Correio de Manha that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium. Gyokeres himself also wants the move.
The striker who used to play for Coventry City has been in great shape this season, scoring 41 goals and setting up 15 others in 47 games across all categories.
Fabrizio Romano says that Sporting will expect his €100 million (£85 million) release clause this summer, so he will not be cheap.
On the other hand, one could say that the Swedish player is exactly what Arsenal needs to get to the very top level.
Which brings us to the player himself: does he see himself in Lisbon or North London?
Viktor Gyokeres talks about the future of sports
Sports’ striker talked to media after his team won the league title for the second time in three years under Ruben Amorim.
Bola Na Rede said that he said he could not promise anything and said this:
“Today was great, and we will definitely have a party,” he said. “Let us see what happens; the fun just started.”
“This is my first title.” When the season is over, after the league and cup, I talk about the party. Let us get every prize.
“I think Rafael Amorim is a great coach, and I would not mind if he kept going (laughs). Rúben Amorim was the one who brought me here, and it was a big deal for my business.
Sports fans, thanks a lot, and see you soon. Let us see what happens. It is football, so I can not promise anything. I have a deal, and I will not be sad if I stay. I am very happy there.
„We do not know what will happen next year, but let us see what it is like this season. We still have games left.”
It looks like he is not ruling anything out there.
Even though he had success with Sporting in Portugal, it is clear that he needs to join Arsenal.
The Gunners look like they are about to become very good, and getting a great player could make all the difference for them.
