Foden also discusses why fishing is his favourite pastime.
Ace of English Phil Foden proves that he is a reel man of the people while on a £14-a-day fishing holiday in the Cotswolds. The £200,000-a-week Man City star, rather than taking trips to distant places like his Three Lions teammates, opted to spend five days fishing with his father for carp, catfish, tench, pike, and perch.
Phil Foden snubbed a major trip abroad for a £14-a-day angling holiday on the edge of the Cotswolds
At Witney, Oxfordshire’s Linear Fisheries, a bystander remarked, “Phil seemed happy as Larry camped out in a modest tent,
There are some incredibly large carp in the lake, so he was determined to catch one for himself. He was quite grounded.
“The most opulent thing Phil had on his vacation was a Portaloo, while his friends from England were living it up in fancy hotels next to beaches.”
Before returning to the City team and getting ready for the upcoming season, 24-year-old Foden was winding down following the Euros.
He enjoys fishing a lot and has posted pictures of his impressive catches on Instagram.
When he was younger, Foden began fishing with his father, Phil Senior, and commented at the time, “It’s the ideal hobby to rest your legs and have some down time.”
“It’s probably not something that 95% of football boys enjoy doing.”
People sometimes remark, “What a strange sport to enjoy,” when they learn that the odd one enjoys fishing. They don’t get why you find it enjoyable.
It goes without saying that they must go test it. It seems like the ideal pastime for taking a break and relaxing.
Foden has posted a number of his best catches on social media from his travels to lakes in the UK and Spain, where he caught his biggest fish to date—a monstrous 130-pound catfish.
Foden did get to enjoy some sunshine before leaving for Germany for the Euros; in June, he travelled to Marbella, Spain, with his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke.
During England’s run to the final, Rebecca gave birth to their third child, and Foden took a plane home to be with her.
The couple has a five-year-old son named Ronnie and a one-year-old daughter named True; they have not yet revealed the name of their newest addition to the family.
