Harry Maguire, an England player, was spotted vacationing in style at a five-star hotel in Turkey after failing to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championship.
Yesterday, the 63-time national team captain for Manchester United, was sipping cocktails by the pool at the Maxx Royal Belek resort.
Harry Maguire has been spotted vacationing in Turkey following his exclusion from the German squad for this summer’s European Championship.
He was spotted enjoying time with his family at the Maxx Royal Belek resort in Turkey.
He was there with his family following his exclusion from the England squad for tomorrow’s start of the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
The first game will pit the host country against Scotland tomorrow night. On Sunday, England will play Serbia, followed by Denmark and Slovenia.
Situated on the coast of Belek, the resort where Maguire has been vacationing is a five-star golf and spa facility.
A two-bedroom family room or a suite can cost you £865 or £554 per night, respectively, while the most luxurious accommodations can go up to £6,400 per night.
When a fellow vacationer saw Maguire, they reported that he was in excellent spirits.
He seemed to be at ease. They just announced the squad a few days ago, so he must have booked the vacation at the last minute.
The 31-year-old Maguire has been a consistent member of Southgate’s team in the past, contributing goals at both the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 European Championship.
However, a calf issue that has plagued him recently has prevented him from playing in Manchester United’s FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City on May 25.
Following his exclusion from the official England roster last weekend, Maguire expressed his sadness in an impassioned Instagram statement.
I am heartbroken not to have been chosen to play for England at the Euros this summer,’ he added.
I’ve been unable to recover from a calf injury, despite my best attempts.
“Perhaps I overexerted myself in an attempt to succeed.” I am just really devastated. Being an England representative is, for me, the ultimate honour. To me, it is everything.
“I will support the team as a fan, along with the rest of the nation, if I am unable to help them as a player.”
“Guys, go win it.” In order to get ready for the upcoming season, I will then go back under the direction of the Manchester United medical staff.
Not only did Southgate bench him, but he also benched James Maddison of Tottenham Hotspur and Jack Grealish of Manchester City.
James Trafford of Burnley, Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton, and Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones of Liverpool were the four players cut from the original 33-man roster.
