On July 18, the 18-year-old paid £52 million to go from Lille to Old Trafford. The following day, he made his Manchester United debut in a 2-0 victory over Rangers.

The next week, though, Yoro’s United career received a serious knock when, just 30 minutes into the USA match against Arsenal, he suffered a foot injury and the team lost 2-1.

As it happened, Yoro would ultimately require surgery.

Yoro had surgery on his left foot on Monday. Although the defender’s operation went smoothly, United stated in a statement that he would not fully recuperate for three months.

Yoro then posted a statement on social media of his own.

He wrote, “This is not the start I wanted, but that’s football.” The procedure proceeded smoothly. I appreciate all of your wonderful remarks.

Yoro sent this statement along with a photo of himself giving the thumbs up while lying in a hotel bed.

Additionally, he shared a photo of Jesus with the Bible passage, “You don’t understand what I am doing now, but later you will.”

In addition to lacking Yoro, United questions Victor Lindelof’s and Jonny Evans’ fitness to play centre back.
