A 2-0 win over Lyon in the Emirates Cup was a great way for Arsenal to end their preseason.
The Gunners were the clear leaders going into the game, and they won easily.
In the ninth minute, Declan Rice’s corner kick set off William Saliba’s first goal. Gabriel Magalhaes scored a goal with a header in the 27th minute, which was helped by Rice again.
The London giants couldn’t make their lead bigger after halftime, but they played well overall. Les Gones only had two shots on goal at the Emirates Stadium.
There was a friendly, and Saliba was named the club’s man of the match. We thought he was the best player. The Frenchman was able to pass with a 93 percent success rate.
He also won all of his ground and air duels, with three clearing.
Together with Gabriel Magalhaes, the Saint-Etienne graduate makes a great central defence pair. During the 2023–23 season, the pair did not get hurt.
Arsenal has a good chance of being in the running for the Premier League title if they can do the same thing again. They are going to try their best to win this time.
But Saliba, Gabriel, and Ben White all look like they will start in the back four right now. The Gunners still don’t know who will play on the left side of their defence.
Early this year, Oleksandr Zinchenko didn’t play up to par, but the Ukrainian star has had a good pre-season. He should start next weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Riccardo Calafiori has been brought in to test himself as a left back. The Italian is going to try to take advantage of any flaws the 27-year-old has soon.
