According to Paul Merson, Arsenal and Chelsea should “break the bank” in order to acquire Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak prior to the transfer deadline.
Alexander Isak scored 21 goals in the Premier League last season
Newcastle have explicitly stated their intention to retain the talented forward, despite the fact that Isak was previously being extensively associated with a departure from St James’ Park.
Isak became one of Newcastle’s most significant players last season after a promising first season, netting 21 goals in the Premier League.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been cited with maintaining an interest in the 24-year-old, and Merson is of the opinion that Isak would be a game-changing signing for the London clubs.
Merson holds Isak in such high regard that he is convinced Arsenal would claim the Premier League title if he relocated to north London, and he also believes that Chelsea would secure a spot in the Champions League with the Sweden international.
With just over two weeks until the summer transfer window closes, Arsenal and Chelsea may still pursue new strikers.
Last season, the Gunners were highly productive in front of goal; however, Gabriel Jesus experienced a frustrating season, necessitating a significant amount of support from Kai Havertz. Earlier in the summer, Mikel Arteta pursued Benjamin Sesko; however, he ultimately remained at RB Leipzig.
