More than 400 days have passed since his last competitive game, which was in the 2023 FA Cup final loss against Manchester City for the Red Devils.

After making 53 appearances across all competitions and recording 13 clean sheets, Pietro Terracciano was Fiorentina’s first-choice custodian the previous season.

The 34-year-old’s deal is scheduled to expire in 2025.

De Gea came to United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and he played 545 games for the team in his twelve years there.

During his tenure at the team, he became the custodian with the most appearances made and beat Peter Schmeichal’s all-time United record for clean sheets.

During his tenure at Manchester United, the Spaniard won five major trophies: the FA Cup in 2016, the Europa League in 2017, and the Premier League title in 2013.

Additionally, the custodian won a number of individual awards, including the Premier League Golden Glove in 2022–2023 and 2017–18.

Furthermore, he won three straight seasons as Manchester United’s Player of the Year from 2013 to 2016.

His last game was in 2020, and he has 45 caps for Spain.

Fiorentina finished seventh in Serie A and advanced to the Europa Conference League final for the second straight year, but Olympiacos prevailed.

The new campaign begins on August 17 when they play Parma.
