GOLDEN HISTORY: Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, William Saliba and Aaron Ramsdale receive class awards and deserved recognition after Arsenal’s outstanding 2022/23 season

At the annual Professional Footballer’s Association awards ceremony on Tuesday evening, four Arsenal players were announced as members of the official PFA Premier League Team of the Year. Following Arsenal’s exceptional 2022/23 season, Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, William Saliba, and Aaron Ramsdale were well-deservedly given recognition.

On the morning of August 21, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) held a grand awards ceremony at the Manchester Opera House. Accordingly, Phil Foden was honored by the PFA as the best player of the year.

However, it is worth noting that Arsenal are the dominant team in the team of the year, with 5 appearances from 5 players, while Man City only have 4 positions.

The most impressive performer of the ‘Arsenal team’ must be Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian midfielder had a hand in 18 goals for the team last season, including 8 goals and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, £105m new signing Declan Rice explained why Arsenal spent such a huge amount of money with his excellent performance on the pitch.

Arsenal’s defense was also honored by experts.

Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba are the most compatible duo in the Premier League. They are maturing with each season.

Experts highly appreciate David Raya, who won the Golden Glove award last season.

Clearly, coach Mikel Arteta has a great squad of players and is ready to challenge Man City for the title this season.

Manchester City, the reigning champions, dominated the roster with five inclusions, while Arsenal had four. This was unsurprising. Kieran Trippier of Newcastle and Harry Kane of Tottenham completed the remaining team selections.

The inclusion of four Arsenal players is a fitting testament to the exceptional performance of Mikel Arteta’s team last season. In addition, it represents the conclusion of an extended period of dearth and the inclusion of the most Arsenal players since the 2010/11 season, when three Gunners were named to the squad.

To serve as a sobering reminder of Arsenal’s situation prior to Mikel Arteta’s tenure, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was the sole Gunner to be named to the 2019/20 Team of the Year, the most prestigious end-of-year team. Hector Bellerín was previously selected for the 2015/16 roster.

Bukayo Saka was not only named to the Team of the Season, but he also received the PFA Young Player of the Year award. This accomplishment is yet another sterling honour for the already-decorated English star, who has been named Arsenal Player of the Season twice and the 2021/22 England Men’s Player of the Year.

Saka becomes the sixth Arsenal player to receive the honour, joining Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Nicolas Anelka, Cesc Fàbregas, and Jack Wilshere. It is not detrimental to maintain such acquaintances.

The four Arsenal award recipients will now concentrate on the significant match against Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday. With any semblance of optimism, they will deliver performances that are commensurate with their accolades.
