Spanish news sources say that Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham will be out for about a month after hurting his knee in practice on Friday.
“After tests were done on Jude Bellingham today by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantar muscle in his right leg,” Madrid said in a statement, but they didn’t say how long he would be out.
Bellingham will not be able to play in the La Liga games against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Real Betis. He will also not be able to play in England’s September Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
On Wednesday, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told the press, “(Bellingham) took a knock, we’re looking at it.”
In 2017, Madrid won both the Champions League and La Liga. The playmaker was a big part of that.
Bellingham moved from a more advanced place last season to a central midfield role in Madrid’s first two games this season to make room for Kylian Mbappe, the new striker.
Bellingham, who is 21 years old, wants to be back for Madrid’s first Champions League game of the season, which will happen in September.
