On their days off, what do football players do? Well, Thibaut Courtois, along with his spouse Mishel Gerzig and kids Nicolas and Adriana, went to Madrid Safari, an animal park located in the capital of Spain. As it happens, the Courtois family has a special affinity for giraffes and snakes.

On Sunday, Real Madrid defeated Real Valladolid 3-0, giving the Royals their first victory of the year. After that, it was time to unwind. Madrid is still on summer vacation, just like in Belgium, and Courtois took advantage of it. He took his wife Mishel and kids Nicolas and Adriana to the capital’s wildlife park, Madrid Safari. Born at the end of March, baby Ellie was not brought to the zoo.

“Annual family visit” is the phrase Courtois used while posting several pictures from the family vacation to Instagram. Snakes and giraffes were particularly well-liked. Nicolas, the son, appears to be fearless. He even posed for photos with some enormous snakes and gave a giraffe’s tongue a gentle pat.
