UNREVEALED STORY: The Worn-Out Football Boots Jack Grealish Wore in the ‘Most Valuable Game’ That Helped Aston Villa Secure Premier League Promotion

Although Grealish currently has the greatest boot deal of any British player in history, the forward for Man City wasn’t always that wealthy!

Why Jack Grealish once wore knackered boots for Championship play-off final

During the ‘richest game in football,’ Jack Grealish donned torn and battered football boots while assisting Aston Villa in winning promotion to the Premier League.

In the Premier League and English football as a whole, there are now fewer players more marketable than Grealish.

While most people found enjoyment in the intoxicated actions of the Manchester City star after the team’s Champions League success, Richard Keys may not have shared their views.

There are very few things in life that are more accessible than the celebrity who, following his crazy 48-hour festivities, texted a friend to let them know he was “in a world of pain.”

When Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid was officially signed earlier this month, the 27-year-old was surpassed as the most expensive English footballer of all time.

Though he still has an advantage over his international colleague, the former Notts County loanee holds the record for the most costly boot deal for a British player.

Even on the largest stage, though, he hasn’t always been one to take as much pride in the looks of his footwear as you might have imagined.

Grealish led Villa to promotion to the top division in 2019 as they defeated Derby County in the Championship play-off final.

The forward, who was only 23 years old, had already attained a very high status in the football world despite his very worn-out and battered boots.

The player and manager Dean Smith were interviewed by Sky Sports following the game’s final whistle.

“Do we need to get you a new pair of boots for the Premier League?” the manager enquired, pointing to his charge’s footwear.

He clarified them by stating, “Well, I came back from injury, and obviously, these were like this,” as Sky focused in on the shattered pair.

“I’d got a few goals and a few assists so I thought ‘these are my lucky boots,’ so I had to keep them.”As they won ten straight games to guarantee their spot in the playoffs at the end of the season, the team offered to take their position in the run.

Grealish, however, wanted to follow a somewhat different path and stick with the team that had helped him so much over the past few months.

Given that the former Villa player wears his socks low and is superstitious, it shouldn’t be shocking to hear that he is superstitious.

He has previously admitted that the shrinkage of his socks while washing caused him to wear them low, and since it worked, he does it every time—though it could possibly be done to flaunt his amazing calves.Image
