Just hours after making a vow to “quit” the national team, Kevin De Bruyne was pictured at a Belgian charity centre with his wife looking sullen.
Following a dull 2-0 loss to France, where goals from Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele proved to be the difference in Lyon, the 33-year-old had an incredible outburst.
Soon after the last siren, De Bruyne approached technical director Frank Vercauteren and appeared to express his intention to “quit,” before moving on to speak with Kylian Mbappe, the striker for Real Madrid and France.
The midfielder then accused teammates of “not doing their job” and “not being good enough” for international football in a harsh post-match interview.
Ashen-faced De Bruyne has now returned to the public eye, accompanying his wife Michèle Lacroix to Ronald McDonald House, a facility that cares for families of ill children, according to HLN.

The Belgian responded, “This is not the place to talk about football,” when asked about the previous evening.
“We’re glad to be here.” We wanted to be here because we committed to this group, even if it was difficult given our hectic schedules.
“We’re glad we can accomplish this as well; the organisation deserves it.”
After the humiliating loss, most of the team returned immediately to their clubs, but De Bruyne, who had arrived in Brussels at three in the morning, decided to visit the charity in Jette.
The pair was at the centre on the day of its fifth anniversary; they have been long-time supporters of the Ronald McDonald Children’s Fund.
It’s thought that De Bruyne made a speech discussing his foundation sponsorship.
The visit follows a tantrum that cast doubt on his ability to stay on Domenico Tedesco’s team.
On Monday night, he said to the media, “We were six at the back.”

It is thought that De Bruyne spoke about his sponsorship of the foundation.
“There was no relationship.” not even throughout the latter part. I take it you’re behind?
What do you think of the match, I wonder? Transitions are not the point. It has to do with how people play and those who neglect their responsibilities.
When asked what could be done better, De Bruyne responded angrily, calling some parts of the performance “unacceptable.”
“It has to be better in every way,” he declared. The benchmark is the highest level. You’re not good enough if you can’t handle the top.
“After that, you have to give it your all on the pitch.” Some do not even do that.
“It’s okay, we’re not that great.” In the past, I was also the first to state that.
However, some things are not allowed. I won’t think about it anymore. That’s what I did at Racing Genk when I was eighteen. I no longer do that now that I’m 33.
The rift within the camp only grew when Tedesco answered questions from reporters, with the coach urging his captain to ‘calm down’.

Belgium’s next match is a huge clash in the Nations League against Italy at the Stadio Olimpico
The midfielder has been one of Belgium’s leading lights during a so-called Golden Generation which has slowly lost its lustre, with the nation failing to make a single major final in that time.
Boasting 107 caps over a 14-year spell representing his country, De Bruyne’s loyalty has thus far been unwavering. Indeed, he was the only member of that group of players, who once promised so much, playing in France on Monday.
Belgium’s next match is a huge clash in the Nations League against Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in exactly a month’s time – it remains to be seen whether one of the country’s all-time greats will be leading his side out that night.
