Mason Mount was sidelined by Manchester United due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the first half of the team’s second Premier League game of the year against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Mason Mount announced his return to social media on Monday, following his return to Manchester United training.
A day after defeating Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup fourth round, Mount, 25, was seen working out with the team at Carrington. This was the midfielder’s third straight absence due to a hamstring injury; he was replaced during halftime of Brighton & Hove Albion’s encounter.
After starting the Community Shield against Manchester City, Mount had started for United for the second straight Premier League game. Prior to the cup match, Erik ten Hag gave his confirmation that the former England international was “progressing,” and he has now returned to full training.
Mount wrote, “Back with the mad man,” as the caption for an Instagram photo that featured him and Rasmus Hojlund grinning together during Wednesday’s workout. His buddy said in the comments, “Enjoying being out there with u masi,” along with the emoticons of a red heart and a kissing face.
The identical picture of them was also posted on Hojlund’s account, along with the statement, “I think the photo says it all, but I guess being a football player the caption should be ‘happy to be on the pitch again.'”
He was referred to as the “caption king” by Mount in response, while colleagues Alejandro Garnacho and Harry Maguire also made remarks. The former said, “Finally,” adding four emojis of sobbing faces to punctuate the remark.
Maguire, meanwhile, made the observation that “you don’t look happy in the second photo,” adding an emoji of a shrug. In response, Hojlund responded the happy face and eyes emojis.
Hojlund has also missed time due to a hamstring injury he suffered eight weeks ago during the preseason friendly versus Arsenal. With a trip to Crystal Palace scheduled for this Saturday evening, both players will be hoping to play again before the end of the month.
