Tyrrell Malacia’s Manchester United teammates presented him with a new player introduction as his recuperation from illness drew near.
The 25-year-old Malacia hasn’t played football in FIFTY MONTHS.
In June 2023, he participated in his final match for the Netherlands in the Uefa Nations League. He underwent surgery to treat a knee ailment a month later.
Following the first surgery, complications arose that required a second procedure. This prolonged his period of inactivity.
Conversely, the left-back has been gradually reintroducing himself into the starting lineup.
The club released a video of Malacia running erratically two months ago.
Malacia was observed collaborating with his Manchester United colleagues today.
In a video showing his comeback to the game after more than a year off, he was given a slap on the head and raced through a gathering of teammates as part of a custom known as “player tunnel.”
The defender’s return to practice was well received by the crowd.
“So happy for him,” read a Facebook like for him.
“Happy to have him back,” said another.
“Amad was randomly waiting to hit him with the ball on his head,” someone remarked.
“Good vibes,” said a fourth person.
Malacia’s supervisor, Erik ten Hag, stated earlier this month that while it’s not difficult to get someone to come back after a prolonged absence, the goal is to encourage them to do so.
“He’s been injured for more than a season and is only now recovering, but he’s putting in a lot of effort and getting better quickly.”
Because of his rapid progress, we believe we can rapidly integrate him into team training. Since he’s fantastic, it makes sense.
“I also believe that he will soon be able to resume playing games.”
Ten Hag said that, given what transpired in the team’s medical room during the previous season, he would not push Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount’s recuperations from illness.
On Saturday night, United took on Crystal Palace in an attempt to build on their previous victories over Southampton (3-0) and Barnsley (7-0).
