With their coup for Leny Yoro, Manchester United executed one of the summer’s best trades.
Leny Yoro’s name was connected to Manchester United going into the transfer window, but a deal seemed unlikely.
Before Manchester United made an approach, Real Madrid was considered a strong favourite. Yoro turned his head and hasn’t turned it back since.
Yoro has talked about his time at the team thus far while he works to recover from a preseason injury.
According to Yoro, United is the largest club.
In an interview with Rio Ferdinand for TNT Sports, Leny Yoro revealed how Manchester United’s size has amazed him.
Yoro says there is no team like United, and he even acknowledged he was a little surprised by the size of the Red Devils, in yet another jab at Real Madrid.
“The club is the biggest in the world,” Yoro clarified. Everything is huge here—the history, the supporters, etc.
When Ferdinand asked Yoro if it was what he had expected, he acknowledged that United’s stature still surprised him.
Leny Yoro about his advantages
Yoro has missed the first few games of the season due to a metatarsal injury he suffered during the preseason. It is unlikely that he will return for a few more months.
Because of this, the only matches in which United supporters have witnessed him play were the 20 minutes against Arsenal and the 45 minutes against Rangers before to his injury.
When Ferdinand asked him to sum up his style of play, he said, “I try to be intelligent on the pitch, to play with my head.”
“To be calm, comprehend the opponents, and understand the game.” to remain composed when defending and handling the ball.
Matthijs de Ligt, who signed with United, came after Yoro. Adding two centre backs during the summer transfer window was always the goal, and it has worked well in light of the Frenchman’s injuries.
With Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans still available as backups, United has enough cover until Yoro returns. Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire are vying with De Ligt for starting positions.
After the injury crisis of the previous season, manager Erik ten Hag will have an even bigger selection dilemma when Yoro returns to full fitness.
