Mikel Arteta, the boss of Arsenal, praised 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri and said he was ready to make his mark on the Premier League. Nwaneri scored twice in Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

Two years ago, Nwaneri made history when Arteta presented him as the Premier League’s youngest player ever. He was only 15 years old at the time. Wednesday was only his fourth game as a senior, but his play showed that he is becoming more confident and ready for more regular first-team action.

Arsene Wenger recently came off the bench in their 1-0 win over Tottenham. When asked if Ethan Nwaneri could play a bigger role in the team’s title bid, Arteta said, “Let’s go.” One more step. He’s ahead of what anyone thought would happen. His play shows that he is sure of himself, believes in himself, and knows what he needs to do on the game.

“In his time with the first team, he’s always been ahead of expectations, including mine,” Arteta said. He earns it, and now he has more time. He’s a part of us.

The match also saw the debut of 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter, who became Arsenal’s youngest-ever starter, surpassing Cesc Fabregas.

Porter’s inclusion came with David Raya sidelined due to injury and backup Neto cup-tied. Arteta revealed that Porter was informed of his selection the day before the game.

The person said, “We told him yesterday, and he was thrilled.” “He spoke to his family right away, and they weren’t prepared for it. It was a big step and an important event, but he handled it really well. He was composed in training, and his teammates helped him through it. Wow, what an adventure and a great way to break a record.

Arteta fielded four academy graduates in the starting lineup, including 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly, who played a key role in Nwaneri’s first goal with a well-timed through-ball to Raheem Sterling, as well as 18-year-old Josh Nichols. Sterling, who is on loan from Chelsea, also scored his first goal for Arsenal, just after the hour mark.

Arteta said, “Raheem did a great job.” “He is getting better and better, physically stronger, and he was involved in a few goals tonight. It was a very strong night for him.”
