PRE-MATCH PREDICTIONS: Ben White decision, Merino patience and Calafiori risk – Arsenal vs PSG line-ups

The UEFA Champions League match between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain is a big one for both teams. They want to finish in the top eight and escape the play-off round. It’s hard on the players because of the competition and the schedule of games in general. Winning here would help their chances of not having to play the two extra games.

Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White and Mikel Merino all are discussed by footbal.london reporters ahead of Arsenal vs PSG

But going 3-0 on the season, including three big wins away from home, has helped boost confidence. A win over PSG here would only make them more determined, and it would be the best way for Mikel Arteta to end this run of games before the next international break. The next break starts after Saturday’s game at the Emirates with Southampton.

Riccardo Calafiori was in training as usual after all the fuss, and Arteta said that the Italian is still in the running to play. Fear not… and I think he should start, especially since Ben White isn’t there.

In addition to David Raya, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, and Gabriel will also start. Getting a win against PSG will depend on the Gunners’ best players being at their best, especially in defence.

On the weekend, Leandro Trossard scored two (almost) goals, with the second one being the game-winner even though some people thought it should have been an own goal. He starts in the same forward line as against Leicester, and Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri, who came off the bench, are there to support him.

Good to see Mikel Merino and Takehiro Tomiyasu back in training. After the international break, when Arteta starts to get most of his team back from injury, they should be able to make a big difference.

Canton’s Arsenal team vs. PSG: Raya; Partey, Rice, Trossard, Saka, Havertz, Martinelli; Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; and Saliba.

Hey Kaya,

I would not want to make many changes here if I were Mikel Arteta. Arsenal played very well against Leicester, even though they left it late. The team should be praised for their hard work.

It’s clear that David Raya should play goal, and since Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are still out, I think you should play Riccardo Calafiori at left back and Jurrien Timber at right back.

I’m going to pick Thomas Partey again in centre. I liked how he played in the first half against Leicester and how he exploited PSG’s high line. Even though I want to play Ethan Nwaneri, I’m keeping Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice as my middle two in front of him.

Definitely, Bukayo Saka on the right and Kai Havertz at the front of the queue. On the left, Raheem Sterling makes a case after a great cameo, but I’m going with Gabriel Martinelli because he played his best against Leicester.

In Kaynak’s Arsenal team vs. PSG, Raya starts in goal and is followed by Partey, Trossard, Rice, Saka, Havertz, and Martinelli.
