Ian Wright begged Arsenal supporters not to give up on Gabriel Jesus, who is having trouble playing, saying that he has to be “supported” while he gets back on track.
Jesus, who has not scored or assisted in eight games this season, is among the few Arsenal players who have had a difficult start to the campaign.
Jesus has only had one Premier League start, which came on Saturday in the 3-1 victory against Southampton, as a result of his decline in play and the outstanding efforts of Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Martinelli.
Jesus would have been eager to make an impression against Southampton, who had not yet won a game, but he was turned out after an hour, and his replacement Martinelli scored as Arsenal overcame a late deficit to win their fifth league game of the year.
The former Arsenal player Wright has noticed that supporters are becoming irritated with Jesus, but he has also reminded them of the Brazilian’s significance after his transfer from Manchester City two years ago.
Jesus, who cost £45 million to join Arsenal from Manchester City, where he won four Premier League trophies, was credited with raising the bar at the club.
On his podcast, Wright remarked, “Can I just say something about Gabriel Jesus because I feel the need to support him right now.”

“I truly, truly do.” I get that there’s a perception that we may have outgrown him, but keep in mind that when Gabby arrived, he was a leveler and raised our game.
Arsenal are at a certain point in their development, but we will need him eventually, therefore I believe it’s critical for Arsenal supporters to support him now.
They need to support him. We’ll need him, so don’t get irritated with the way he’s playing—he’s trying so hard right now.
He has won the Premier League four times, so we need to make sure we give him confidence. He’s shown clutch in a lot of previous circumstances.

Hearing the whispers and the way the supporters are acting, man, please support this man and stick by him.
“He really, really needs support. He wants to do so well, but it’s just not happening right now.”
The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, declared himself “really happy” with both his and summer acquisition Raheem Sterling’s performances, even though the latter made his first league start for the Gunners after joining on loan from Chelsea on deadline day. Sterling replaced Jesus in the 60th minute of the match against Southampton.
When asked if Jesus and Sterling had done enough to establish themselves as starters for the Premier League championship contenders, Arteta responded, “I was really happy.”
“We made the necessary adjustments.” Everyone should be able to participate, and the outcome in the first half may have been drastically different.
“After that, we felt that something needed to change in terms of energy, so we brought on three players who are capable of doing that, and they really helped,” the statement reads. “But overall, I’m happy with everyone.”
With this win, Arsenal can continue to trail both early leaders Liverpool and defending Premier League winners Manchester City, who are presently in second place.
After finishing two points behind Man City in the previous season, the Gunners are attempting to win the Premier League for the first time in twenty-one years.
