News: A midfielder who moved to Arsenal for £30 million says the move “changed his life” by Kwadwo NtiamoahOctober 8, 2024This summer, Mikel Merino moved from Real Sociedad to Arsenal for an estimated £30 million fee plus add-ons.

Last season, the defender won the most duels in Europe’s top five leagues. He was also on Spain’s team that won EURO 2024.

After getting hurt by accident in training when he hit Gabriel, Merino went back to playing. The way the Gunners trained him to get fit again was unlike anything he had seen before in his career, he said.

He won four of the six ground battles he had in his first game for Arsenal, which was in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder told the Spanish news site Mundo Deportivo that joining Arsenal has “changed his life”:

“This was one of the best summers of my life.” The Euros and my new job at Arsenal have changed my life.

I was really interested in Arsenal because it was a big project. At this point in my career, I want to get better and win more titles. They’ve had a rough start to the season with key players leaving Real Sociedad, but I’m sure that they’ll get wins in the end because of how well they work.

In Spain, Merino also talked about the difference between the Premier League and La Liga.

“Everyone likes to talk about it, and it’s always there.” I haven’t been to the Premier game in a while, but I know it’s a very physical game with a lot of back and forth. La Liga, on the other hand, is more positional, meaning that the team is more important than the individual. No matter what, these are two leagues where you can see a great show.

The player for Arsenal is happy with his move in the summer.Merino says he feels great now that he’s healed from his accident. Last weekend, the midfielder came on as a replacement in the game against Southampton.

“I feel very good, strong, and have forgotten about the shoulder fracture I got.” I’m excited to start this new journey with my coworkers and feel very happy about it.

The Spanish player also had some things to say about Mikel Arteta, the coach of Arsenal.

“He is a coach who really loves what he does.” He loves figuring out how to play the game and how to handle the emotions of the group. I’m also very passionate about mine, and when you see other people who are too, you get the bug.
