‘IDEAL REPLACEMENT’: Alan Brazil reckons £7.5m-per-year manager could replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but only one condition

One of Manchester City’s important players is expected to go at the end of the current campaign.

More specifically, after serving as the team’s sporting director for 12 years at the Etihad Stadium, Txiki Begiristain is scheduled to depart City in the summer.

The 53-year-old’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of June, so there’s a possibility he may go with Begiristain.

A commentator has now identified a candidate who may succeed Guardiola soon after, taking that likelihood into consideration.

When asked who might take over as City’s manager in the event that Guardiola departs the team when his current contract expires in the summer, Alan Brazil made this statement in a recent video that was posted on the talkSPORT YouTube channel.

In May, after managing Burnley for two years, Kompany was named manager of Bayern Munich.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg disclosed on his official X account that the former City defender may receive a maximum salary of €9 million (£7.5 million) each year with this position.

In his nine games in charge of Bayern in all competitions, Kompany has watched his team record six victories, two draws, and one loss while amassing 33 goals and allowing ten goals.

Guardiola made this comment about maybe managing the Blues in the future after Kompany was appointed manager of City.

“I believe his destiny is to become a manager of Man City; it is written in the stars,” he remarked. “He will be back sooner or later.” I’m not sure when it will occur, but it will.

“I said he will run City at some point; I’m not sure when, but I’m very sure.

“No, [I haven’t discussed anything with him]. It’s only a feeling; I could be off.

“I have the utmost respect for him, a strong work ethic, and expertise in a very challenging field. He is performing exceptionally well at what he does.” He is aware of the needs of our community, the club, and the surrounding area.

“That’s where the destiny is.”

Considering all of that, it’s understandable why Brazil believes the former captain of City will eventually be the one to succeed Guardiola.

But Brazil also mentioned that the club’s hierarchy will undoubtedly consider Kompany’s prospective offer to join City if he has a successful tenure at Bayern when it comes to choose a new manager.
