England defeated Finland 3-1, with Jack Grealish scoring the first goal and dedicating it to his newborn daughter Mila.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Grealish was Lee Carsley’s unexpected call-up last month after Gareth Southgate had decided to leave the Manchester City star at home for the 2024 Euro in Germany. Despite his lacklustre play for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, Carsley has given the 29-year-old the go-ahead after taking over the Three Lions in an interim capacity.

Under Carsley, Grealish has displayed a great touch for England. He scored the first goal for the Three Lions early in the first half and showed his newborn daughter how much he loved it. After scoring past Lukas Hradecky in the Finland goal and putting on a strong display, the midfielder made good on his promise to dedicate his next goal for England to Mila.
WHAT GREALISH SAID
Speaking to ITV after the match, Grealish said: “For my little daughter Mila. So happy. So yeah, that one was for her.”
WHAT NEXT FOR GREALISH?
The England star will now return to Manchester as he prepares for City’s hectic upcoming schedule, starting with their Premier League clash against Wolves on Sunday, October 20.
