Erling Haaland issued an apology for his own performance during Norway’s Nations League loss against Austria, which ended 5-1.

In the Nations League on Sunday, Austria humiliated Norway 5-1, making Haaland’s teammates’ evening awkward. Despite having an undefeated start to the competition, Stale Solbakken’s team was outmatched at Raiffeisen Arena and let up four goals in the second half.

Haaland’s individual match numbers show that he had a forgettable evening. In lieu of Martin Odegaard, the City star captained Norway once more. However, the match didn’t go as well as his last time wearing the armband, a 3-0 victory over Slovenia in which he scored a brace to become Norway’s all-time top goalscorer.

    The 24-year-old, who also received criticism for his behaviour after the match, is eyeing six points when Norway face Slovenia and Kazakhstan in next month’s international window.
