Man City stars on national duty: ‘Iron Wall’ Ruben Dias delivered a solid performance, while Manuel Akanji had a less comfortable showing, struggling to find his rhythm

The Portuguese and Croatian teams from City are still tied for first place in UEFA Nations League A Group 1.

In an exciting match against Poland, Josko Gvardiol started for Croatia in a back three. At the half, the visitors were up 3-2.

But even in Warsaw, because to Sebastian Szymanski’s effort with 20 minutes remaining, it was honors.

With fifteen minutes remaining, goalie Dominik Livakovis was sent off, bringing Croatia down to ten players, but they managed to hold on for a draw.

Portugal was restricted to a goalless draw with Scotland, forcing Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva to accept a point as well.

Dias featured for the full 90 minutes at Hampden Park while Bernardo was introduced as a second half substitute, but the visitors couldn’t break down their stubborn opponents.

Portugal remain top with ten points from a possible 12, with Croatia one place and three points behind ahead of their showdown in November.

Manuel Akanji’s Switzerland, meanwhile, were denied a first win of this year’s Nations League after twice being pegged back by Denmark in League A Group 4.

Zeki Amdouni and Remo Freuler goals put the Swiss ahead 2-1 at the half, and the City defender began the match at center-back for his country.

But a goal in the 69th minute by Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen kept them bottom of the standings ahead of their final two matches of the following month against Serbia and Spain.
