MESUT OZIL has hinted at a return to football after posting a training video to Instagram where fans say he looks unrecognisable.

The 35-year-old has not played since March 2023 following his retirement from professional football.

Ozil, the legendary player for Arsenal, posted a montage of himself pulling a weighted sledge at the gym, and it completely improved his physique.

The hourglass emoji and the words “Always stay ready, then you don’t need to get ready” were included in the social media post made by the German celebrity, hinting at a possible comeback.

And fans and football stars shared their support for Ozil’s transformation.

Man Utd icon Rio Ferdinand said: “Looking strong bro.”

While former Chelsea man Antonio Rudiger commented “beast” on the post.

One fan did not even recognise the ex-midfielder after they said: “Bro became so buffed I barely recognized him.”

The World Cup winner has been included on Germany’s draft list for the upcoming Over-35 competition this summer in England.

His teammates set for the upcoming tournament include ex-Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira and former Schalke forward Kevin Kuriyani.

Ozil joined the Gunners for £42.5 million in the summer of 2013 and played in over 250 matches across all competitions during his eight years with the team. He previously played for Real Madrid.

During his tenure at the Emirates, he was the recipient of four FA Cups. In the 2015–16 Premier League season, he recorded a club record 19 assists for the Gunners.

Ozil left North London and played for Fenerbache for two years, then briefly for Istanbul Basaksehir. In March, he announced his retirement from professional football.
