Kiwior was one of the heroes of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash with Preston North End on Wednesday. The Polish defender played the full match and provided two assists as the English runners-up won 3-0 and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
It was the Pole’s first appearance in the starting line-up since September’s clash with Bolton in the same competition. On Wednesday, the Arsenal centre-back showed himself from an excellent side. The Pole made several good interventions in his own half, but it is mainly his attacking play that will be the most talked about.
The Polish international recorded two assists. In the 24th minute, after a corner kick, he headed the ball well to Gabriel Jesus , allowing the Brazilian to open the scoring. In the second half, Kiwior made a great cross from deep, which Kai Havertz converted with a powerful header into a goal . The Pole often drove himself into the opponent’s penalty area and was active in many offensive actions.
Arsenal’s promotion should mean more chances for the Pole. In the Premier League and Champions League, his ratings are lower in the hierarchy and it remains to be hoped that with performances like Wednesday’s, the Pole will regain some of Mikel Arteta’s trust .
