HISTORICAL Despite a catastrophe on the field, the Manchester United manager was beaming at Old Trafford on Sunday.
After United’s 3-0 loss to Spurs, the 82-year-old former Red Devils manager was photographed with Olympic gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson.
Keely Hodgkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson met at Sunday’s Man Utd vs. Spurs game.
Before the match, the Olympic athlete displayed her gold medal.
Despite his current health issues, Ferguson continues to attend United games on a regular basis.
He posed for a picture with Hodgkinson, a United supporter and the golden girl of Team GB.
Before kickoff at Old Trafford, the 800m champion displayed her gold medal and received a hero’s welcome.
A framed Manchester United shirt was given to the 22-year-old before he left on a lap of honor.
But after Erik ten Hag’s men suffered a devastating defeat, she left feeling let down.
Hodgkinson and Sir Alex were beaming when they reunited in the VIP section following the game, regardless of the outcome.
As the Atherton native shared her day out with her 521,000 Instagram followers, the two hugged each other.
“Thank you for a warm welcome yesterday @manchesterunited,” Hodgkinson posted.
“Meeting the man of the hour in the theater of dreams, cheering on the world’s greatest team, was an honor.”
“They were just happy to see a winner Keely!” was one fan’s comment on the photo.
“You were the highlight at the game yesterday,” jokingly said a second.
A third person chuckled and asked, “Can you play for us up front?”
Hodgkinson went on vacation right after following her heroic deeds in Paris last month.
She was spotted having a well-earned siesta while relaxing on a luxurious boat in Marbella.
The 22-year-old also disclosed that her mother was an ardent United supporter.
“My mum has had a Manchester United season ticket since she was 19,” Hodgkinson disclosed.
The seats at Old Trafford bear her name. I am not as devoted a fan as she is.
