After three straight draws, Manchester United must defeat PAOK at Old Trafford on Thursday to get their miserable Europa League campaign back on track.
During the pre-game press conference, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy talked about his unwavering emphasis on winning the squad all three points. The Red Devils are in 21st place and sorely need a win.
On the injury front, there is encouraging news: Leny Yoro has resumed practicing with the first team, while Tyrell Malacia is almost ready to return.
However, the interim manager called up a new player to first team training because many senior defenders were unavailable due to injury and academy regulars like Harry Amass, Jayce Fitzgerald, Jack Fletcher, and Ethan Wheatley were busy getting ready for the UEFA Youth League.
Academy news
Daniel Armer, 17, and Jack Kingdon, 17, were called up for Wednesday’s training session, according to the Manchester Evening News.
“On Wednesday, fewer kids participated in training as injuries subsided, and several of the familiar faces from previous weeks were not present.
“The only children in this session were offenders Jack Kingdon and Daniel Armer.”
Following an outstanding breakthrough season for the U18s last time out, in which they won a triple, Academy Scoop, a well-known X account with inside knowledge of the academy, has disclosed that academy coaches hold him in high regard.
The first senior training session for Armer
Dan Armer, a 17-year-old center back, participated in Manchester United’s first team practice prior to their Europa League matchup with PAOK.
He said on X (formerly Twitter) that the young player is highly regarded within the organization.
After eight appearances, he is now a regular for the U18s, and he will benefit much from his first experience practicing with the senior squad.
Even while a matchday squad call-up may still be a ways off, Armer is only getting started, and United has a strong track record of incorporating young players into the first team.
