Jude Bellingham and his younger brother Jobe had a heartwarming meeting when they saw each other for a short time before going on duty with England.
During the season, Jobe is a star for Championship winners Sunderland and Jude is one of the best players in the world with Real Madrid. This means that the Bellingham brothers don’t get to spend much time together.
Once they got to England’s St. George’s Park training base on Monday for national team duty, the two were able to spend some quality time together.
Before England’s Nations League games against Greece and Ireland, Jude flew over from Madrid to join Lee Carsley’s first-team squad. His younger brother was also named to the Three Lions’ Under-21 group for the first time.
The younger brother got a raise because of how well he started the season with Sunderland. He scored two goals and started all but one game as the Black Cats jumped to the top of the Championship standings.
Jobe is continuing to follow in his bigger brother’s footsteps as he rises through England’s youth ranks. He got a rare look at how senior players interact with younger players when he arrived at the national team’s headquarters and shared a moment with his older brother.
The two smiled as they hugged each other, and the brothers enjoyed the rare moment because they hope to play together in a big tournament one day.
Jobe will be trying to show the England coaches why he should start in the upcoming games between the Young Lions and Spain and the Netherlands.
After that, each will go back to his or her own club, with their mom, Denise, keeping an eye on Jude’s job in Spain while dad, Mark, stays in England with Jobe.
For Jude, the international break comes at a good time. He is back with his England teammates after getting his first goal of the season with Real Madrid over the weekend.
This season has been tough for the midfielder, who is having a hard time in a lower role at Real Madrid since Kylian Mbappe’s big move.
The 21-year-old celebrated after scoring in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Osasuna for Real Madrid. He now comes back to England as a key player on a Three Lions team that has been hit hard by illness.
Carsley, the interim manager, will be without eight first-team stars because important players from top Premier League clubs had to withdraw because they were hurt.
Because of this, Carsley has had to make some risky choices. For example, the England coach chose to give first caps to three players, including Morgan Rogers, an Aston Villa forward.
