Martin Baturina, a 21-year-old defender for Dinamo Zagreb who has already turned down Real Madrid, is said to be wanted by both Barcelona and Manchester United.
A report from the well-known German writer Patrick Berger says that Martin Baturina is a person of interest from Barcelona. Manchester United is also interested in the Dinamo Zagreb center prospect, but the Croatian giants want around €20–25 million to get rid of him. The young player has already turned down Real Madrid and now wants to move to the Bundesliga.
How quickly Martin Baturina rose to fame
The young midfielder Martin Baturina is one of the best in the world. The Croat is one of many talented young players from his country that have recently become world-class. As a child, he played for his hometown team in Split before joining Dinamo Zagreb in August 2017.
It took the 21-year-old a few years to break into Dinamo Zagreb’s first team. He has since played nearly 150 times for the club, scoring 18 goals and setting up 34 others. The young player has also played seven times for Croatia. At the same time, Baturina’s growth has not gone unnoticed. Several well-known clubs in Europe, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, are interested in him.
Someone people want
Manchester United has already “positioned themselves” in the race to sign the playmaker from Croatia. The Dinamo Zagreb prospect looks like a good long-term target for the Red Devils because they need a top-level midfielder who can improve. Man United will have to work hard to get him, though.
At the same time, it makes sense for Barcelona to be interested in Martin Baturina. The Catalan giants have already made a lot of moves to improve their midfield, and players like Marc Casado, Fermin Lopez, and Marc Bernal who came up through the academy are also helpful. It’s not clear how Baturina fits into FC Barcelona’s plans if Frenkie de Jong doesn’t leave.
It looks like Luka Modric has pushed Real Madrid to sign Baturina so that he can take over as manager at the Santiago Bernabeu in the long run. Real Madrid turned down the Croat because they wanted to loan him to a Spanish club instead of bringing him into the first team. Instead, Real Madrid turned down the Croat.
Baturina wants to move to the Bundesliga when he leaves Dinamo Zagreb, so the club will ask for around €20 million to 25 million to let him go. So, it will be hard for Barcelona and Manchester United to get the 21-year-old midfield talent as well.
